Introducing Our New CEO: Ms. Carol L. Murray

Written by Our Founder/Creative Director

Tahir "Mr. Legacy" Murray

INTRODUCING NOT JUST MY MOM, BUT THE NEW CEO OF LHP: MS. CAROL MURRAY ❤️

For the last seven years, my mother, Carol Murray, has quietly been the glue behind LHP.

She believed in the vision from the beginning, stood beside me through every stage of growth, and helped hold this business together long before there was ever a title attached to the work she was doing.

As LHP continues to grow, so does the responsibility of building the right structure around our ideas. I’ve realized that in order for me to pour more of myself into Creative Direction, we need someone leading the business who understands not only where we’re going, but where we come from.

So while my commitment to LHP isn’t changing, my focus is becoming clearer. I’ll continue leading the creative vision of LHP while leaning on her experience to strengthen our operations, create more infrastructure around our ideas, and help us build a company capable of carrying them out at a higher level.

Our commitment to HBCUs remains the same. Our commitment to our customers remains the same. And our commitment to building a family business that can last for generations only gets stronger.

This is Ms. Carol Murray.

Ms. Carol L Murray:

Long before becoming CEO of LHP, Carol L. Murray built a life and career around family, faith, education, entrepreneurship, and the belief that what we build today should create opportunities for the generations that follow.

A first-generation college graduate, she entered North Carolina Central University at just 16 years old and graduated at 20. Her time at an HBCU gave her more than an education. It gave her a sense of belonging, community, and a lifelong connection to HBCU culture—something that makes this next chapter at LHP even more meaningful.

Entrepreneurship is also nothing new to her.

Carol helped grow SOHK Sportswear (School of Hard Knocks), our family-run business, into a multimillion-dollar licensed apparel company. That experience gave her firsthand knowledge of what it takes to grow a brand, navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship, and protect a family vision as it evolves from one generation to the next.

Now, decades later, that experience comes full circle at Legacy History Pride.

What started as an idea I had as a student at Howard University has grown into a company that my mother and I now have the opportunity to build together. As a third-generation entrepreneur, that means a lot to me.

Her role as CEO isn't simply about a new title. It’s about creating the foundation for where LHP goes next—strengthening the business behind the creativity, protecting the vision, and making sure we continue building something rooted in legacy, history, pride, culture, and community.

And through every chapter, there is one simple motto that has continued to guide her:

“GO. BE. DO.”

The Carol Murray Motto.
