Bowie State University Apparel & HBCU Clothing
Founded in 1865, Bowie State University stands as one of the oldest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the nation. Its roots trace back to the Baltimore Association for the Moral and Educational Improvement of the Colored People, an organization established in 1864 by 46 influential businessmen, lawyers, clergymen, and Quakers dedicated to educating newly emancipated African Americans throughout Maryland.
One of the organization’s most vocal advocates was Joseph M. Cushing, who championed equal access to education for the Black community during Maryland’s Constitutional Convention of 1864. That commitment led to the opening of the association’s first school on January 9, 1865, inside the African Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland. From those humble beginnings, Bowie State University has evolved into a nationally respected comprehensive university offering undergraduate, graduate, certificate, and doctoral programs across a broad range of disciplines.
Today, Bowie State University continues its proud legacy of cultivating future leaders through innovative academics, research opportunities, and real-world experiences. Ranked among the nation’s top comprehensive universities, BSU empowers students to discover their strengths while building a foundation for lifelong success.
